The Athens 2004 Volunteer Commission (Western Canada), or simply Volunteer Commission, was formed in November 2001 under the umbrella of the Consulate of Greece in Vancouver and the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in association with the Athens 2004 Olympic Games Organizing Committee. The Volunteer Commission consists of Greek youth who carry out the recruitment of Volunteers for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games as well as the promotion of the Games to the broader community in Western Canada.

We have achieved success on both accounts. The Membership of the Volunteer Commission numbers at more than one hundred, spanning to areas throughout Western Canada. The Volunteer Commission has brought awareness about the Athens 2004 Olympic Games to an all time high while generating much excitement. Our future endeavours as a result are determined to be big and quite exciting.
